Description

Plato Symposium on Plato's "Republic"
Tuesday, November 10, 7 pm
Frances Niederer Auditorium, Richard Wetherill Visual Arts Center

A panel of Hollins faculty will say, in turn, what each thinks about some part of Plato's dialogue Republic, the official topic of which is "What is Justice?" Panelists will speak from the perspective of their own discipline and interest. Panelists include James Downey, Michael Gettings, and Summer Renault-Steele (all in philosophy), Christina Salowey and Fred Franko (in classics), Joseph Leedom (in history), and Christopher Richter (in communication studies). The audience will then be invited to ask questions of any panelist or panelists, for lively discussion. Sponsored by the philosophy department and Phi Sigma Tau.
