  • Independent living skill instruction
  • Personal fitness and hygiene activities
  • Relationship building activities
  • Social events and celebrations
  • Gardening and landscaping projects in local parks

  • Volunteering at local churches and elementary schools
  • Tours and visits to local museums and historical sites
DePaul’s day support centers share a common philosophy that places great value on the individual worth of each participant. Individuals have a right, within the scope of their ability to participate, to be an integral and valued participant in the plan of services they wish to receive. This includes identifying their schedule of attendance as well as the activities and projects in which they want to be involved. The participation of the individuals (as well as their families and/or advocates) in developing a person-centered plan and schedule is vital to the individual being able to access opportunities for personal and educational growth, skill building and mastery, responsibility, independence, and community integration. Within this philosophy of involvement is also the right to be treated with dignity and respect as individuals as well as for their personal choices and decisions about the services they receive.
